Why we Started
We are a South African family living in New Zealand, and food is a big part of who we are. We started Little Rickshaw because we wanted to share the flavors we grew up with the kind of food that brings people together and makes you feel at home. Every dish we make is full of tradition, and real South African ingredients. Whether it’s a warm vetkoek filled with mince, a sweet pancake (pannekoek), or a creamy milkshake, we want every bite or sip to remind you of home and good times.
Our Journey
Little Rickshaw began with a love for cooking and a whole lot of passion. We didn’t have much at the start, but we believed in what we were doing. We worked hard, learned as we went, and kept pushing to get better. We listened to our customers, experimented with new ideas, and stayed true to our roots. Little Rickshaw is more than just a place to grab a bite. It’s where people come to enjoy great food and experience a little taste of South Africa. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about what’s ahead.

A Durban classic! A hollowed-out loaf of bread filled with a flavourful Beef curry and a sweet tangy coleslaw on the side.
Boerewors Roll - NZ$10.00
A traditional South African sausage served on a roll with your choice of toppings.
Boerie Smash Burger
A juicy boerewors‑style patty made from real boerie mince, smashed for extra flavour and served on a soft bun with classic South African spice in every bite.
Deluxe Boerie Smash Burger
A loaded boerewors‑style smash burger stacked with mushroom sauce, cheddar melt sauce, BBQ and peri‑peri, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and cheese.
Vetkoek - NZ$10.00
Deep-fried dough pockets, filled with Curry Mince and Veggies or Chicken & Mayo.
Pancake (Pannekoek) - NZ$ 4.00
Nothing says comfort like a warm, golden South African pancake — A batter mix which consists of Flour, eggs, Milk, salt, baking powder, oil and fried up in a pan which comes out thin, soft, and rolled with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Simple, yet full of flavour.
Double Thick Milkshakes 700ml
Made with creamy vanilla ice cream and your choice of flavor ( bubblegum, strawberry, or chocolate) . Thick, smooth, and deliciously indulgent in every sip.
Soft Serve Ice Cream
Smooth, creamy soft serve on a cone with a light and a classic sweet flavour.
